The development of the Safer Dancing Guidelines known in Northern Ireland as Appendix E – Additional Conditions For Places of Entertainment Providing Dance Events has spanned a ten year process. This has resulted in the DOE’s inclusion of Appendix E to the booklet Model Terms – Conditions and restrictions for Indoor Entertainment’s in June 1998.

As a follow on from this Coleraine Borough Council has been proactive in seeking to implement the requirements contained within Appendix e. This commenced in September 1999. The formation of a unique partnership between the Borough Council, the local licensed trade, the PSNI and the Northern Drug & Alcohol Co-ordination Team. The work of this Committee has resulted in the publication of this website.

We believe that Coleraine Borough Council is working towards the creation of a safer dancing environment within its Borough through the adoption of these Policies.

APPENDIX E – Additional Conditions For Places Of Entertainment Providing Dance Events.

1. Reduction in the supply of drugs;
2. Drugs awareness / education;
3. First Aid;
4. Prevention of overheating;
5. Availability of drinking water.
