Parents Stop Project Launch
THE Deputy Mayor of Coleraine, Ald Maura Hickey and local BBC news presenter, Sarah Travers co launched a new booklet on Friday past, aimed at increasing parental awareness about the issues surrounding the dangers faced by their children. 'Parents Stop! know the score' is an publication spurred on by a recent drug and alcohol survey which was carried among local 11 to 14 year olds out by the Science Shop based at Queens University, Belfast on behalf of Coleraine Borough Council's safer dancing committee.



'The publication is an informative booklet related to the findings of the survey, focusing on Alcohol, soft drug and solvent abuse. It contains facts and advice and helpline numbers for concerned parents of children aged between 11 and 14. The booklet which was organised by 'Teensafe' and funded by the Northern Drugs and Alcohol Co-ordinating team will be distributed to all schools within the Borough, Council buildings, Libraries, health centres and may be attained by sending a stamped addressed envelope to Coleraine Borough Council.Parents Stop Booklet Launched

Trevor Clarke, Chairperson of Coleraine Safer Dancing Committee, commented " We are keen to address such issues surrounding the implications associated with drug and alcohol misuse and we wish to encourage greater awareness amongst parents.
